Austin Wedding Photography: Vista on Seward Hill

Last week I had the chance to shoot another Austin wedding with Caroline at Vista on Seward Hill. This is one of my favorite outdoor wedding venues in the Austin area. I love the “stone courtyard, complete with European statues. It’s a very romantic and elegant location to exchange your wedding vows. Its three-tiered fountain and four columns of fire contribute to the Old World Tuscany Charm.” You may recognize the setting from a wedding I photographed a couple months ago. See Josh and Tatiana’s Wedding at Vista on Seward Hill Below are some of my favorite images from this wedding. Enjoy!

ayesha - ben! LOVE the t/s! not just that, though – fantastic color/processing, great emotion/moment captures. i think my favorite is the shot of the couple in front of the evening-darkened stone wall, with the off-camera flash on them – that contrast is gorgeous, as are their smiles. awesome!

Vida Carson - Whoa you rocked this wedding! I’m loving the bright colors and OF COURSE the tilt shift :)

DIY Fall Wedding in Huntsville

January and February are typically dead months for weddings, but it gives me a chance to catch up on some old wedding that I never posted. This one took place back in November of 2009. I had the opportunity to second shoot for my girlfriend Caroline in Huntsville, Texas. The wedding was held at the Huntsville State Park a couple hrs from Houston. The whole family pitched in to help decorate and make this wedding special. Everything from the pumpkin decor to the delicious horchata was crafted by family and friends in attendance of the wedding. It turned out great and, as you can see, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make your wedding special. All you need is a creative eye and a lot of helping hands. Check out this helpful online resource if you are thinking about doing it yourself. DIY Bride

Bridal Portraits at Mayfield Park in Austin: Cassie

So… last week a got a voice mail from a frantic bride in search of a wedding photographer to shoot her Bridal Portraits. She had originally scheduled her Uncle to shoot them but on the day of the session he backed out and left her hanging… She had already spent the money on her hair and her beautiful bouquet so she really needed to take them on that day. Luckily I was available so I called her back and we arranged a time later that day to shoot her Bridal portraits at Mayfield Park in Austin. Cassie did a great job and I am so happy that I was able to step in to help her out… well it turns out, I will be shooting her wedding on March 14th. YAY!

This was the first time I really got to use my new 45mm Tilt-shift lens! I love the effect of the selective focusing. It really helps to isolate the subject and bring out the best features in image. I can’t wait to use it on future sessions. You can see more samples of this lens on my last post,  Reunion at Fort Hood.

Reunion at Fort Hood: Kimberly & Will

Today was a very special day for me and a lot of families in Texas. I spent the whole afternoon in Fort hood with one of my clients as she waited to reunite with her fiance who has been stationed in Iraq over the last year. Now, I have photographed many weddings which are always very special and joyous, but it’s not every day you get to witness something so raw and emotional. It was an incredible experience and I was reminded of how much our soldier’s familys sacrifice every day. No matter what your political views are… you have to respect the sacrifice they have made for all of us. I’m so glad that Will, and all the others, made it home safely. So grab a tissue, sit back and celebrate LOVE. Kimberly & Will are getting married on July 10th 2010 in Austin, Texas. Congratulations and Welcome Home!

Make sure to check out the slideshow at the bottom.;)
