Reunion at Fort Hood: Kimberly & Will

Today was a very special day for me and a lot of families in Texas. I spent the whole afternoon in Fort hood with one of my clients as she waited to reunite with her fiance who has been stationed in Iraq over the last year. Now, I have photographed many weddings which are always very special and joyous, but it’s not every day you get to witness something so raw and emotional. It was an incredible experience and I was reminded of how much our soldier’s familys sacrifice every day. No matter what your political views are… you have to respect the sacrifice they have made for all of us. I’m so glad that Will, and all the others, made it home safely. So grab a tissue, sit back and celebrate LOVE. Kimberly & Will are getting married on July 10th 2010 in Austin, Texas. Congratulations and Welcome Home!

Make sure to check out the slideshow at the bottom.;)

Ben, thanks for your inspiration to join us to see Will come home! None of us quite realized what an emotional day it would be but your video captured the day perfectly and was a great example of the love Will & Kim shared with each other and the families that care about them. For everyone whose never witnessed a homecoming, your video really illustrates the human side of it!

The Proposal: Engagement photography at the Captiol

This was the real deal people! Jeffery is a very romantic guy. He wanted to surprise his girlfriend by coming down to Austin to propose to her. They both live in Denver, CO but he called me up at the beginning of the week to ask me if I could document his romantic proposal in Downtown Austin. He flew in on Friday and we went downtown together to scout out the perfect location. We decided that the Capitol grounds in Austin would be the perfect setting for his surprise. After a nice dinner and a carriage ride through the streets of Austin, they ended up a the Capitol walkway. Meanwhile, I was hiding in the bushes capturing every moment! It was very exciting and challenging at the same time. IT WAS DARK! After all the excitement had settled, I came out of hiding to surprise her with a photo shoot! We had a blast and I am so happy for Jeffery and Gyovanna. Congrats!

Happy Holidays to everyone!!! Now is a time for family, friends and love. I hope you have plenty!

Nicely done, Ben! I love the light in the trees and in the city portraits at the bottom with the capitol in the background. Your work is amazing. :)

George Koroneos - March 19, 2010 - 2:54 pm

This sounds so ridiculous on paper, but the photos are so amazing. Great idea, and great work. Should I assume that you were shooting with some insane long lens. I would have been scared to death of cops.
