Lunar Eclipse: Dec. 21st 2010

As many of you might already know, there was a total lunar eclipse last night. This was the first time since 1638 that an eclipse coincided with winter solstice, making it a historic event…. We really wanted to watch, but here in Austin the cloudy cover obstructed our view, so we hopped in the Prius and headed west to try and beat the clouds. It was a race against time because the clouds were rolling west but we made it to Fredericksburg just in time during totality and were able to snap a few photos before the clouds came rolling back in. Here is the time lapse of our whole trip! It was about a 2 hour drive each way. Enjoy!

Awesome! Love the moon shot, and the time lapse video is way cool.

I was totally bummed that I didn’t get to see it. Stupid clouds.

Austin Wedding Video: Chris & Cristi

I always love the opportunity to stretch my creative legs and work on something completely different. Last month filmed Chris & Cristi’s wedding at the Smith Family Chapel in Austin, Texas. The reception was held at the Omni hotel in downtown Austin and the evening was absolutely delightful! Chris & Cristi decided to do a “First Look” before the wedding and it definitely paid off with excellent photos and some really special footage for the wedding trailer. Enjoy! Make sure to check out the wedding photos on Sweet Caroline’s blog.

Phill - November 11, 2010 - 5:04 am

Simply lovely. I’m particularly enamoured of your editing style here; the soft dreamy out of focus images resolving into reality, the jump-cut motif that probes the spirit of a scene, the vari-speed footage that adds a jolly step to proceedings. It’s such an enjoyable tour of Chris & Cristi’s magical day.

Payton + Travis: Wedding Video at Barr Mansion

Many of you might not know… but I started my college career studying 3d Animation and Video production. It was only natural to transition into shooting more films as digital cameras started incorporating HD video capabilities. Payton & Travis got married at The Barr Mansion (one of my favorite venues) this month and I had the pleasure to create this wonderful wedding film for them. After you watch the video head on over to Caroline’s website to see the wedding photos. Enjoy!

Austin Wedding Photography: Matt & Cori @ The Terrace Club

Saturday I had the distinct honor to photograph the wedding of another Austin Wedding Photographer, Matt Montalvo. I wanted to make something truly unique, so I produced a time lapse video of the whole wedding, which took place at The Terrace Club in Austin, Texas. The video was created entirely out of still images, taken with my canon 40d and 5d MarkII. I can honsetly say that this was one of the most entertaining, fun, crazy wedding I have ever attended. That’s because, we photographers and wedding industry folk know how to party! Some of the rockstar guest/vendors included, Francis Cruzada, Sweet Caroline, Arol Horkavy, Matt Montalvo(the groom), Richard Lizama, and Joel from GreenBelt DJ (Highly Recommended)

Check out the wedding photos from Matt & Cori’s wedding at The Terrace Club here.

This video was made using still images taken with my Canon 40d and 5d MarkII. It spans about 6 hrs during the wedding day…

Equipment Used:
10-22mm lens on 40d
45mm TS on 5d
Satechi. TR-A Timer Remote Control Shutter
Canon 430exII Flash
Tripod

Austin Wedding Videography: Becky + Steven

Last Sunday I filmed one of Caroline’s weddings at the House on the Hill in Austin, Texas. It was actually raining on and off most of the day so we were lucky that the rain lifted and the sun came out just before the wedding ceremony. Becky and Steven wrote their own vows and also decided to meet each other before the wedding. They are truly a unique couple and I wish them the best in the future.
Being only my 3rd wedding to film, I think it turned out perfect and I really learned a lot. I can’t wait to add a video package so I can create more wedding films for my clients in Austin, Texas.

1-one cinematographer
1-5D MarkII
1-Tripod, 1 GlideTrack, 1 Merlin Steady Cam
24-70mm2.8, 70-200mm4.0, 28mm1.8
audio was captured using a Zoom H4N paired with sennheiser ew g2 wireless lav mics

Very difficult to shot a wedding with only 1 camera but here it is. A little creative editing helps a lot!;)

House on the Hill wedding teaser: Becky and Steven

Just a small clip from Becky and Steven’s wedding I shot today with Caroline… I can’t wait to upload the full edit!

I really love the House on the Hill, great little wedding venue! I mainly focused on filming but I did manage to get a couple shots. Here are some of my favorites.
